A MESSAGE FROM MELISSA...
Today is January 5th, 2004.
It is the countdown until the international release of my first album (February 2 Europe/Intl; March 1 UK; May 4 US). I'm very excited! It has been two years in the making, and I am longing to share it with other music lovers!
The making of this album began in March 2002 when I made a decision and commitment to myself to make the album of my dreams - something that reflected my last 10 years of music adventures and songwriting - and above all else, I wanted to make the sounds I've heard in my dreams, my heart and my soul for as long as I can remember. So, I decided to put every penny I'd made in music back into music and make this album myself. I didn't have a band, but I had a lot of supportive and talented friends - that was even better! I could choose the right drummer for the right rhythm and the right guitar player for the right guitar part! I could do what was best for the songs!!! Many guitar players! I wanted this to be a hugely layered, ornate guitar world. I had the hands to help me achieve that but I needed a partner - someone who would see me through this until the unknown end! He's a lovable, huggable music man who would understand what music meant to me, because it means the world to him. The man from the desert: Chris Goss. We had mutual friends that we trusted and I had stored his name in my dreams since 1991 liner notes, and he liked the demos I sent him. I believe his words were, "I'd love to be the man to hold your hand through this special project." And so we began. In and out of favors and whatever studios we could find, we completed most of the album - then came the search for helping hands of a different kind. In came Frank Gironda (a wise and wide-eyed peaceful man, who manages music with patience and foresight), and finally the last frontier: we were invited by Capitol Records to join their impressive legacy and nice, round building.
I am very happy to have the opportunity to share my love of music through this album and the upcoming tours - it's coming for people all around the world!!! Around the globe I go!
